    I have gone through lot's of articles and blogs etc. Most of time got that we should not go with social bookmarking , blog commenting etc for seo. But i am tracking a website of my friend getting high ranking to 1 place for some keyword all they working on social bookmarking directory etc . But i was thinking that such techniques are worthless .

    Now confused how to get better ranking for my website for specific keyword ?
    I think i need to go with social bookmarking and directory listings as they are know as old and outdated but still working

    Now a days bookmarking is not good for the good search engine optimization but if you do these bookmarking site as website promotion then it is useful.

    Social bookmarking no longer works for SEO, hasn't for a few years now. If you have quality/viral content worth sharing then this could bring traffic from a site like Reddit. But useless as far as SEO is concerned.

    Social bookmarking has little direct benefit for SEO. It can bring you some referral or direct traffic, but that's it. If Google can access some links from these sites, they will likely have low or no value as ranking factors, because they are not editorially reviewed. It is no worth your time registering to those websites. Writing good content with a backlink on welcoming hosts will bring much more SEO returns.
