    It's mostly about social networks these days I guess. Write quality articles/posts and share them over social networks. If the articles are good enough you can get some backlinks in return.

    I agreed with you. social signal and web2.0 would be helpful to get brand name as well as reach ranking in search engines. i don't think link building other submission would be useful in these days to get high rank
