BUT.. I know think it would look better if you put the ad in a dotted box (like your product) and se the ad background AND border to match the colour of the table. Then it will not stand out as an ad, which is still does now.

Oh and set the height of the product table to match the height of the ad

I really like the lines over the bottom AS. Subtle but it draws the eye. The only downside is that it is below the fold.

 

Ok made changes, it's getting there. The reason that I left the ads colours with the border was because I was following your screenshot Critters I thought you may have had some top secret knowledge!

I don't use borders for my adsense. Increased the ctr by 125 percent in a couple weeks. Good advice people.

Bloodwrath, if you took away the column border on the right column it would be nearly perfectly integrated. Bring your type faces up a point and I would not be albe to twll which was content and which were ads...and as the ads are nicely relevant to your subject you are very close to perfect.

Something a few people are missing about why this works:

I think the advantage that is being gained by those who implement this correctly is being drawn because the images make the ads look like featured navigational links to good content within the existing site.

So the letterboard is obviously very important to implementing it correctly, as there is only one 'ads by google' and it's bottom right, out of the way. Anything that puts the ads by google between the image and the ad will loose impact imo.

It's not so much to draw attention to the ads, but to have them viewed in a particular light.... that of more content available within the site.

 

I also have had very good results with using no borders on my Adsense settings
