That depends on which activities you're speaking of. Link building, ranking, anchor text, keywords, popular search queries? I use AHrefs, SEMrush and searchenginereports(dot)net.

I personally use Ahrefs and Majestic to look at competitors fresh backlinks and traffic logs.

To be honest, these tools will only tell you about link building of any site, and that too these sites will never show 100% links. Link building is just a tiny part of SEO strategy of any business. So if you are interested to know what is your competitor doing with respect to SEO, you need some serious spy tools but I'd never recommend doing this. Because the time you will spent on competitor spying can be well utilized in doing something useful for your own site.

good point. It is nice to get an idea what they are ranking for, where traffic is coming from, etc though.

    Javed!!
well explained, i agree with your point.
I am not talking about backlinks, there are lakhs of free and paid tools available, even i don't bother about backlinks.
Recently one guy asked me "how to track competitors last one week complete activity" that time i failed to answer him. if you know answer for that question, kindly share.

    Thanks

I don't think using the same method as your competitor used will benefit you. It only shows that you have no choice left to overcome your competitors. You are missing the most important part.

Use majesticseo to take a look at your competitor's backlinks. It helps me find new link sources and gets me into the mindset of the competitor to see if and how I can beat them.

Pretty much what I use other then Moz and Majestic. Seems like Ahrefs is extremely organized and up-to-date with finding out new backlinks compared to the other two.

I highly highly recommend SEMRush. I don't think that there is a better tool out there (although it is a premium service).

It is to an extent and depending on how many backlinks you get a day will depend on how much info you can get out of them!

There are many tools available on the internet. But most of the time, I use backlinkwatch. It generally gives an idea about your competitors off-page activities. It is available free of cost.

First check your competitors social media presence and also PPC(target keywords). Competitors recent activities can be know by monitoring their backlinks this can be acheived by Majestic seo, open site explorer etc.
