I launched a site called ectomorphinfo.com, I've had the site up for a month or so now, I'm trying to rank for a specific keyword and I'm ranking for variations of that keyword but not the keyword itself, which I find weird. I've been using whatsmyserp.com to check the keyword rankings. The keyword I'm trying to rank for is "ectomorph", I'm ranking for "ectomorphy" & "ectomorphic" which aren't even close to the density of the "ectomorph" keyword on the site, I was hoping to get some feedback from members of the forum as to what I'm doing wrong so I can fix the issue, thanks in advance!

I'm so sorry but that site is just embarrassing. You need to go back to your business plan and look at what you are trying to achieve - apart from earning from ads. I can't see why anyone would visit your site for long enough to click an ad and I can't really see the purpose of the site.

An important part of SEO is having a site that is well constructed - you have one H1 tag and none of your other headings are given any importance at all.

Linking out to bad neighbourhoods is a bad idea from an SEO perspective so that link to graphic porn is probably going to kill your site.

There's only one page - so it's not even a site really - that will not serve you well in the SERPs either. Have you nothing more to say on your topic?

ok so i need to add more heading tags, as for the graphic image, does google have image recognition that takes into account the type of image link?

They probably can't read the image itself but they can read the alt tag and they can see what you link to.

true, the words i use for the link shows up in google webmaster tools.
from the feedback i've been getting so far it seems that i need to add more content
and use more identifiers. I'll try that and see what happens, if i have any more questions
I'll get back to you, thanks for all the help :)

Get back to Sarah's first comment and analyze it more deeply. We are not talking about a couple issues here, the whole website looks like it fell from 1990's and its just as spammy and low quality as the websites back then. Almost no content, the content present is full of errors and exists for the sole purpose of promoting your keywords, links to adult content and an amazon book (which doesnt even load), appalling design and no value for the visitors whatsoever. If a search engine algorithm update was coming out today, your website would probably be the first slashed.

Best thing is to start completely from scratch and use this website as a guide of what NOT to do with the future one. Have a developer/designer help you with the outlook, while you educate yourself about current SEO practices.

As for the keyword itself, this is really the least of your worries. It is absolutely natural that you would be ranking for the less searched keywords easier. The more popular a keyword is, the more it is searched - the more competition you would be facing as it often happens. With time, as you grow and acquire more visitors with your useful and interesting content, the better and better you will rank for it. But that would certainly not happen with this website.

Try using the keyword in your content, meta tags, H1 tags which would help to get more traffic on your website
