Tying together domain and sub-domain

I've got two separate GA tracking set up for our main site (www.mysite.com) and a blogs site (blogs.mysite.com)

How can I track users between the two? Or can I if they've got two different tracking codes?

What's the best the way to set things up in QA to follow users from one site to the other? I'm thinking this shouldn't be overly difficult because they're both using the same domain (mysite.com).

I think the most simple and effective way to do that with Google Tag Manager
Here there is an excellent guide on how to do it:

Admittedly, I'm not all that familiar with Tag Manager but I'll give this a go (at the very least, I'll send it over to our IT guys and let them take a look). Thanks Lotto!
