SEO is a complex procedure with many steps.

The First Step- Start a blog with hosted domain. You should do a good keyword research before choosing your domain name. If you get a domain name which is almost or the same name to your niche then you will be at an advantage point.

The Second Step is on-page optimization. Make a good heading for your blog, a good tagline along with meta description, a theme which is attractive but easy to navigate & takes less time to load. Add a sitemap for the users, add a sitemap (.xml file) for the Search Engines.

The Third Step is to build good content. Many webmasters just forget this that they have to build content for the audience and not for the search engines, they just want traffic from the search engines. Build content which is unique and insightful, & which will help your readers, Make your posts interesting with images, infographs, videos, flowcharts etc. The readers don't want a content which is too lengthy, make your posts descriptive but to the point. Always remember if your readers love it then the search engines will also love your articles. Research your topic keyword wisely. Put it in your post heading, meta description, tags etc but don't do keyword stuffing.

The Fourth Step is off-page Optimization. Search Engines counts the links directed to your site from other sites as 'votes' to determine your rankings in the search results. Build good quality links, the number of links doesn't matter but the quality does. There are many ways to build links such as guest blogging, forum posting, directory submission etc. Always remember that links from your niche and/or related niches only gets counted, links form irrelevant sources doesn't and can even get you red flagged in the eyes of the search engines.

The Fifth Step is getting recognized. Submit your sitemaps (.xml file) to the Search engines via webmasters tools such as Google Webmasters tool & Bing Webmasters tool, uploading robots.txt file to your site so that search engines can know which part of your site to crawl or not, installing contact form so that readers can interact with you, putting social share buttons so that readers can share your content etc.

These are some basic steps of SEO. I hope it might help you.

Research your keywords, then start On-Page (Title, Description, H1 and H2 tags, alt tag for images and title for links!). Post GOOD content often! Submit to Social Bookmarking sites, Social Media sites, blog comments (manual!), take part in forums, etc. :)

No SEO means no visitors from search engines. If you don’t do it then search engines can’t categorise and rank your site for keywords relevant to your business. Both on-site SEO and off-site SEO are required. You can’t achieve good results doing one without the other.Start doing SEO now. The longer you leave it to start, the further ahead your competitors will be, and the harder it becomes to rank higher than them.Know your competition. Find out what the sites ranking on the 1st page for the keywords that you want to rank for have done, on-site and off-site, to get there. No two websites are the same. An SEO strategy that worked for someone else’s site isn’t guaranteed to work for yours because there are so many variables.SEO doesn’t have to be expensive. You can get big results on a small budget if you invest time in creating good content and building online relationships.SEO results aren’t instant. The results of SEO work done today might not become apparent, and might not be credited by search engines, for weeks, or even months. The newer your website is, the more patient you will need to be. It takes time to build authority and trust, and until you’ve developed both, you shouldn’t expect to outrank older, more established sites.Never consider your website to be finished. If you want your site to continue to rank higher, attract more visitors and make more sales, then you should always be adding to and improving it.Adapt to algorithm updates. To attain and retain good rankings you need to adapt your SEO strategy as search engines evolve over time.

First Step start with on page of your website, make the title simple and targeted but don't stuff it with keywords
second step build social profiles of your websites.
    third step update them daily.
fourth step start creating backlinks from only 100 best websites including bookmarking websites, free page websites, blog websites etc. that comes in SEO
fifth Step link every backlink to each other in one way or other also link your social profiles too.
Sixth step spend some money and do PPC for a bit of keywords
Note : Keep in mind you are no exception to Google if you are spamming like posting links in signature is the baddest practice along with blog commenting with anchor tags. Avoid these things

On Page first, get all the critical elements correct. Sitmap your domain into google webtools and learn all of what google has to offer for that. Takes time and exposure before you get the whole process down. good luck

First step of SEO is learning: what is SEO, Need of SEO, how to use SEO, where to use SEO etc.
Second step is implementation of your learning on website, blog or any web page.

If you already have a website, the first step is to check how clean is your site. Check for any duplicate content, check for any pages which shouldn't be indexed in Google. Rewrite any duplicate content and delete/no index the pages which can hold you back from ranking high.

The next step is to research good buying keywords with high search volumes and low/medium competition. Find 5-10 variations for each keyword and write engaging content for each set of keywords.

The next step is to drive traffic to your pages by using quality backlinks such as guest posts, high PR/DA blog posts, press releases, etc.
