    Hey there,
I am looking to move the login page from /wp-login.php to maybe /login.php
if i change the filename in the FTP, would that cause any errors? how would i go about maybe making the login page at .com/author?
    Thank you for your help

The best way is through redirects, if you rename the file the system may have links broken.

    Check this: https://wordpress.org/plugins/sf-move-login/

Hi, you can install Theme My Login plugin. This theme will create the WordPress login, registration and forgot password pages according to your theme.

If you don't want to install any plugin then you might need to redirect /wp-login.php to /login.php after creating the custom login page.

    Hope this helps.

@Brandoni Hi, By default Wordpress provides a URL to go to Login page i.e. abc.com/wp-admin.
If you want to use abc.com/login.php as login URL then best option is to create a php page named as login.php and redirect it to abc.com/wp-admin. Here abc.com is your domain name.

By this way you need not to make any changes in WordPress files and will also not affect its functionality at all.

The free iThemes security plugin offers an easy way to hide the login area.

So, you can update your site settings so that when anyone types in domain.com/admin or /wp-admin they receive a 404 error.

For your example, you could simply update your admin area to domain.com/author.

    Don't move it.
    it is not necessary.
You can set a password in your wp-admin page
