    Hello,

I think, knowing the web languages is very good for the Optimization Side on seO, because one of the factors used by search engines is the Website Speed, Performance, Clean Code....etc

The SEO area is too Large and there is many other Aspects to take in consideration : Analytic Knowledge, Web Marketing, Social Marketing...etc

Honestly, thoroughly knowing web languages like html, php, asp.net does not even help in optimizing your site to rank top. Because anyone with little knowledge in html can build a site, or use wordpress to develop a site.

It is the content and backlink.

I can create a site only by using <span> and <div> tags , but still rank it high with good content and backlinks. Quality backlinks matters most.

You only need to be able to understand html when you read it so that you can see that there are problems with the h tags etc.

Yes it is an advantage but HTML knowledge is enough to help with SEO for your website.

If you end up with low quality crap code because you don't know how to code then you risk screwing up the crawlers. they are robots, and they do not attempt to figure out bad code the way a browser does. When they hit an error, they will generally ignore what follows, if the page is real junk they will just abandon it. The other thing is that without good coding skills you will likely not understand how to apply accessibility, usability and semantic components to a page. Spiders are blind. They work very much like the screen readers used by the visually impaired. Google adds weight for accessibility, usability and semantic tagging. Most crap frameworks plugins and themes do not generate optimum code, and any load time scripting will not be processed by the crawler, because what is generated does not exist in the source code; which is what the crawler processes.

So the bottom line is that if you have poor coding skills it will almost certain cost you SEO juice, and if you take the lazy route of using third party code to build sites then you will either have to learn how to optimize them after the tool spews out crap, or lose some ranking weight.

if you want a fast website sick to plain html with no databases etc. So you do not need to program.
If course if you have content etc and then need a database, php is probably your best bet.
Wordpress is pretty good but does tend to get slow often
