Doesn't blogger allow you to use a custom domain?

I've never used Joomla, but Wordpress is easy if your just trying to put something up.

Apart from "I want to create a site" you haven't told us what you want that site to do.

If you want a site that has a few pages of info, a blog and an enquiry form then WordPress is the way to go.
If you want a "medical site" where people can sign up for clinical trials and make appointments and download research papers then you may want to get Joomla - although I'm sure I could make WordPress do it too.

    What are you actual requirements?

Wordpress is best for simple websites as it has large number of themes and easy to work. When compared to wordpress, Joomla has less number of themes.

Medical site sounds like security might be an issue. If so then the answer is neither they are both full of a million ways to create security holes and the hackers have multiple exploits for every hole, and create new ones faster than rabbits breed. If you are not interested in learning to do development right, and you can't hire a professional to do the work, then do the world a favor and find another hobby. We really don't need another clump of crap clogging the pipelines.

If your requirements are not too robust and are limited to basic web functionalities, WordPress will be the simplest and more than enough for your needs.

You can use both to accomplish what you want.
Joomla is more complicated, but you can create quite complex websites if you are familiar with it.
WordPress is more user friendly, lighter and is easier to modify themes and find free plugins to improve website functionality. As well, you can use it to achieve complex websites.
So, it's only up to you.

If you're looking to create something really basic, go with Wordpress. If you're planning on making the site into an authority site with multiple functions, go with Joomla.

    Hello there,
In my opinion, both Joomla and WordPress are good, they have both advantages and disadvantages. To know what is the best either Joomla or WordPress, for me it will depends on the user/developer because you should consider what are the needs of your website, what do you want to do on your website and of course, the skills or knowledge of the developer. As you said, your not a professional web developer I would suggest that you should consider and check their usability to be able to decide what you can use.

I hope it helps :) regards
