Well, what you need to do in addition the website is to support it with social accounts, facebook, twitter, tumblr, google+, etc. Without this you don't really have the chance to grow.

I agree with your thoughts. I too want to start this type of business. I want to share my story. I stated with website hosting and website design. It ran well but stopped after a few days due to heavy competetion. I built my own website www.trainingsin.com and started but not promoted well due to some timing issues. I started with domain reseller business but ended with losses. Now just maintaining a blog and www.trainingsin.com website. Still trying to identify new ways to get success in online businesses.

So my suggestion is before entering into any business just think about past, present and future of that business in all ways. Don't leave the present job if you have, as per few experts suggestions.

I wish you all the best for your plans.

There is a lot of web site makers free online that can build you a site with adsense, but application maybe tough depending on where you are and your traffic. Also do not depend on Adsense alone, there are enough Banned threads to make anyone think twice about putting all their eggs in a basket.

It is great you are looking for investments, but to be honest, best place to start is not in hiring people to make sites for you, but in gaining experience that can help you long term (in both creating and maintaing your own sites), then over time, this will give you skills that you can market to others. You can try things like making a wordpress site at wordpress, learn how to use wordpress then you can make your own site easily.
Here is an idea, try 5 different web builders, learn them, then write about your experiences. Then come to the forum and offer to sell the articles you wrote re-viewing different website builders.....
Before using adsense, it is critical that you read the adsense terms and conditions with a fine tooth comb.

Unless your site is unique, I guarantee that if you spend money building a generic site, aiming only to earn from adsense, with no other skills on your own, and without spending anything on marketing, promoting, advertising, etc, I would expect you to earn $0 back.

You don't need a website, right now. You need a business idea followed by a business plan. Then you need to begin assembling the infrastructure to implement the plan. At that point you likely will need a website and by waiting until this stage of the process, you will be in a much better position to create the website that you need for your business to succeed.

I observed that it has been a mindset that to be successful online one needs to have a site. Partially yes, but this secondary IMO, some are neglecting the part wherein there has to be a well laid out plan and marketing strategy prior to building the site.

I wont advice you to quit your job right away since there's nothing to fall back on for now.

Still maintaining your job, start learning the rudiments of internet marketing. Spend time on this forum and other internet marketing forum to learn. Read the threads, follow the discussion, go to youtube and watch how some things are being done practically.Instead of paying for a domain right away, start with blogger to learn the ropes. There are some basic things you need to know how to do yourself. Fine, if you go the route of purchasing a site, how will you update the content or edit to your taste and how long will you keep on paying for stuffs that a basic. To everything in life, there is a learning curve. Take your time to learn how stuffs are being done and when you encounter any problem or issue along the way, post your questions here and more than enough people will be willing to be of assistance to you.

Well, I am far from an expert, its best to talk to this guy: https://forums.digitalpoint.com/threads/im-tired-burnt-out-of-online-business.2728777/
He has a wealth of more experience then I do.

Seriously, best advice I can give you is "Information is only as reliable as the source".
Second best advice is "never start a project that you would hate if it never made money".
Third best advice is "never invest in any project if you cant afford to take the risk".

If you are serious about starting a site, it is good if you can go to youtube and watch videos released by google staff.
Any search for "matt cutts", or browsing the youtube chanel : https://www.youtube.com/user/GoogleWebmasterHelp/videos should help you find quality information on best SEO practices for your website. Push yourself to watch a video a day from their channel, it is ALOT better then learning the hard way.

Golden advices there. Don't leave your job until your online income is stable for at least 6 months. There are different schools of thoughts (as always), and one that I disagree is to leave your job so that you can focus. The fact is that no matter which niche you choose, you'll definitely need capital to invest (e.g. services or even paid advertising).

My advice will be if possible, look for a mentor. Some people managed to figure their way around within a year, some left the online world to get a 9-5 job. Save up a sum, find someone who is experienced and learn from him/her.

If you are planning to increase your adsense earning then you should concentrate more on social media marketing after you build the website. Hope you would be successful in your plan and you would not have to do a regular full time job. Cheers!!!!
