Do local domain name help ranking?

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by enous, Aug 28, 2014.

I want to start a new project.
And I have a plan to register a few local domains.
    For eg.
    Keywords.uk for UK.
    Keywords.us for US
    keywords.co.za for South Africa
    Keywords.ca for Canada
And then redirect all domains to a same site, will it help my keywords ranking in those countries?
Or I need to host every domain to a local host ?
    Any suggestion welcomed!

    Thanks a lot!

They won't help if you redirect them but they would help if you develop them and use cross linking, you can find more info here http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.ro/2009/12/handling-legitimate-cross-domain.html

Of course they help if you remain specific, A .uk site for google uk, .us site for google, so on and so forth. if you give back links to one site with another it would be a great neighborhood between different geographical zones and hence give you better DA and PA.

You can also think of having the main keyword as the domain name itself. This will help you in achieving better results through search engine optimization.

people are much more concern on SEO friendly url, domain etc.
basically, these are obviously have good influence in google but don't think these are the main things to rank. if you don't have these advantages still you can have top rank.

Choose a short, easy to spell domain name. Companies targeting specific geographical regions might prefer to register local domain names with .it, .cn, .ro and other extensions. Apart from these cases, a.com domain is the best option. Other popular extensions are.org and.net.

Local country TLDs play an important role in ranking. Keep all of them separate.

I don't think so... But you can try as long as they are not really expensive, because sometimes people remember the link (but if it was .com or .net...) ;)

Keep each of the domain separate. Redirecting is not a good idea.
