Why keywords are not showing up in Analytic?

Discussion in 'Google Analytics' started by Siservices, Jul 8, 2014.

Let me describe me the problem taking an example.

My site A is getting backlinks from good websites like Scoopit, Storify and other top ranking websites but despite working for 2 months Google Analytic is not showing up the keywords in its results. Just URL's are showing up. What may be the possible reason for this and how can I overcome this to know which keywords I am ranking on. Also, I am getting rankings for my top 5 keywords on 3rd page in SERPs.

I checked the analytic code also its placed at right place.

I know what GWT means :) There the keywords are showing up. Also there are certain Clicks on that too but analytic is telling a different story.

Hi Siservices, could it be that you are checking referral traffic (rather than search traffic)?

To my understanding Google has been encrypting their keywords. For my analytics when I look at keywords, my top are "not defined" or something like that and then a few keywords that I can read. Is that what you see or do you not see ANY keywords at all?

I cannot see any keywords at all. And I am ranking on 2nd and 3rd pages in Google. Still I only see my website link and a cache page link.

most of your keywords are under your (Not Provided) which is due to the privacy settings in place of the viewers. These (Not Provided) do typically show up in Webmaster Tools as they does not provide as much User Info as Analytics. In some cases, when you connect your GWT account with GA, you will see these same keywords in the Search Engine Optimization section of GA

On 18th Oct, 2011Google announced that when a search is made using secure Google webpage then search term would not be passed on to the destination site.
    However we have following alternative:
    Option 1
1.In your Analytics account, head to Admin, then Profiles.
2.Click the name of the profile you want to work with, and select the Filters tab.
3.Create a new filter in your Analytics account:
The purpose of this filter is to extract the not provided terms
    Option 2
In GA there is Search Engine Optimization report designed specifically for this purpose – specifically the Queries report.
    Option 3
    Use Webmaster tool
    Option 4
If there is ranking it means that Title of the page is correct, but if the visits are not there then check the Description.
