Michelle Grey.... Is absolutely right her words ! Basically there is need to add Alt Image Tag as well as Image Title & Description too that Google reads & catch to Image. This tricks really works to show image on Google Image & If you share that image links on Social Networks than it's also wonderful ! As long Visitors would visit on Image so Google will also give value to Image !

This can be achieved very easily by using alt tags in images because Google bot reads alt tags not images & also use all Google products like Google+, Gmail & plus share it on social media websites...

The ranking of the images though is directly related to how well your website performs. So a well SEO'd websites images will appear above those of a lower ranking website

you can promote your images on Google by alt tag, and also share your image with same name on different image sharing sites.

Google does not read images that why we have to provide alt tag, title to the image. We can even use the image name in the URL, to get it rank in the Google. Example (http://www.grazitti.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/SEO-dashboard.png) In this URL SEO Dashboard is the Image name that is provided in the URL.
