    An email marketing campaign consists of several parts. First, presumably you have your own website where you regularly post quality content. Second, you have signed on with an auto responder to capture followers/subscribers through a squeeze page and now they are part of your list. Third, you send out emails on an ongoing basis to your list through your auto responder. That is a campaign in it's simplest form. Hope this helps.

    From your website, you collect subscribers through an opt-in form.

    From there, you send out regular informative newsletters or emails to engage and provide value to your subscribers. Once in awhile, you can throw in some promotion items to monetize these emails. You can either sell your own products/services, or find related affiliate offers.

    You can also advertise on other companies' email newsletters, if you do not have your own list to start off with. If your niche is big enough, there is probably a media outlet or other such service organization that targets your market with regular emails or newsletters and you can sometimes sponsor them, run an ad in them, etc.

    Email marketing is simply, marketing products through email.
    1- Traffic = visitors to your websites, blogs
    2- Squeeze page(optimal page, landing page) =Your one page site
    3- Email service provider = A means to automatically collect your collected emails from your site and mail them periodically.
    4- Thank you page - Your offer of products, or affiliate products.

    Remember, no matter how much traffic you send to your websites, if you don't collect emails,95% or more won't return to your site. but if you have list of emails, You can follow up and offer them periodically. Your list becomes your asset. Build the trust by giving value. Build your image as the go to guy in your nichie. It takes time and toll. Consistency is the key.
