    This is my new social shopping site: http://www.etoot.com. If I put a lot of money and a lot of hard working Can I be able to beat the social monster Facebook. If yes then how can I beat it?
    Needs your sincere review and feedback. Help and recommendations would be highly appreciated.

    Why?
    1. Putting a lot of money and a lot of hard work is not sufficient to beat anyone. At present, everyone has money and hard work to invest.
    2. Your thought is wrong. You want to beat while you should think to win.
    3. Facebook was started to help others not to beat Google or other sites.
    4. Thousands of people make same dream every day to beat Google, Facebook or others sites but they are still struggling.
    5. Until, you do not discover amazing things helpful for society, you can never beat any prominent sites.

    Asking for my first and last name with a big pop up as soon as I enter your site is a BIG put off.
    Also your feedback section wants my Mobile Number.

    You need to give users time to look around before asking for stuff.

    No. Money and hard work will get you known, but to win Facebook’s audience you have to offer something unique and inspiring, something that hasn't been done before and has potential to be a helpful asset.

    Unless your site is unique and offers the user something Facebook can't offer, then unfortunately you will never be able to compete with Facebook.

    As Sam has stated, you need to do something new and fresh that EVERYBODY wants.

    No social network can compete with Facebook right now unless it is well established and has a huge cash flow to invest in marketing (in my opinion).

    Nothing personal but you should at least make the template look modern and easy since what I see is something back to the year of 2000.
    Remove iframes, remove nofollow tags, make it more user-friendly and ask an UX specialist to help you to arrange elements of the layout.
    Yes, if you are consistent enough and ambitious as well as have an inquisitive mind - you can take a market share even from such a giant as FB.

    Not only you have got a bit complicated competition, but also there is so-called demand in society. Shortly: people want to communicate with each other more than buy stuff on internet or else. Your web page can grow up to something more than an other random website so keep up a good work and, probably, things can change

    That's a tough one to beat and chances your money and effort to what Zuck has exerted. Anyways, if you come up with something that FB hasn't done and lacking who knows? Good luck though! :)

    @Kristina Roy has it down. You have to have the right expectations and goals. "Beating" Facebook is a HUGE HUGE HUGE insurmountable (basically, IMO) task. Yes, something bigger and better will come around like how Facebook took over Myspace. But I'd focus less on Facebook and more on more immediate competition and how to improve your site.

    To echo what a lot of users have said here, no. I mean technically anything is possible and who knows, you could win the lottery and be fine sinking millions into an advertising and development budget, you know? And the kind of help you're asking for, depending on the kind of detail you want, advertising execs and SEO techs would get paid some nice money for. You may want to enlist professional services if you want to take a serious run at it.

    From a more practical view, though I wouldn't know how to fix it, I can say as an end-user that your site is a bit clunky on the design aspect.

    The site doesn't look right on my ipad - take a look at that.

    You can probably make the site work but putting facebook up as your measure of success is asking for disappointment even when you have success.

    My personal opinion is that it will take a huge game changer to take people away from facebook. It may even involve a technology change. Facebook have prospered because people post from their phones. The game changer will prosper because it allows people to interact via google glass? wafer screens? holograms? That looks crazy written down but if you'd asked me 20 years about having a phone full of apps that manage audio recordings, video editing, games, my business accounting and even my websites I'd have thought you were nuts - we were still waiting for windows 95!

    Get creative and think outside the box and come up with something that will utilize the new tech that is being invented and get ready for it.
