When creating a logo is it best to make it a subtle silhouette or very apparent in the foreground?

I'm designing a logo for my blog and I'm stuck between making a sleek stylish professional looking logo, much like companies that blend their names with silhouettes or making a large very apparent one.

Keep in mind this is for a football blog that has to do with personal experiences, and will have many parents and players filtering through the site.

What are the pros and cons of each style?

An apparent logo for the foreground will provide you with more identity - I believe it depends whether this should be your go-to final logo or you'd be willing to rebrand it in the future. You would like to have one that stands out (naturally fitting the overal layout of your site) and stands as an icon, representing something and building an image for the audiences that will go through your website.

A subtle one might be good for early recognition, but once the project grows you will want to have something unique and stylish to base your blog on.
