Their written regulations aren't worth the ones and zeros. It's the algo that matters and it's the fine tuning behind that algo that people want to know but, as you acknowledge, it's hidden.

lol of course everyone wants to know how the machine works, but knowing what you can and can't do with that machine is enough. As an example, let's look at Photoshop. Adobe does not reveal the code that makes the software work because they don't want someone making a copy and selling it; allowing folks to see the code that goes into Photoshop poses a risk to Adobe. However, there are also rules as to how the program can and can't be used. There are many tutorials, blogs and literature about using Photoshop so that artists can create the things they want. Anyone who takes the time to learn them can effectively use Photoshop without having a clue what code makes the program work.

In the same way, Google keeps its algorithms (the rules that govern how the engine works) secret because they do not want someone taking that information and using it to compete against them. But that's fine because you don't need to know these algorithms to run a successful website or not be penalized. Everything that Google looks at to determine what is and isn't unique, quality, relevant, is out there for anyone to read and learn about. Everything that would cause Google to penalize a website is likewise out there. Everyone knows that keyword spamming is a no-no; we all know that low quality backlinks can hurt you and that copying content from other websites will get you penalized. There are many factors Google uses to determine whether a website is or isn't going to make it and these factors do change frequently, but anyone concerned enough to stay on top of these regs and changes will know enough not to get penalized.

So if you build a similar site with something like http://scriptsoutlet.com/offer/coupon-site-automated-script/ they should apply the same rule. Looks like a good niche.

Don't mess up with useless petitions, use some plagiarism checking software, hire a good SEO specialist and content contributors, clench your teeth and go on building your links -- it'll give you much better results than complaining on what's "fair". It's Google who decides what's fair, and not you

Order a mass plagiarism check of your web-site's content, kill everything copied from other sources, and go on with reconsideration request.

How can it be happening to "most of us" - whose sites are now on the first page of the SERPs?

I don't agree. It's their search engine, their business, their rules. They are not obliging you to delete a site, to change it, or whatever.

We are just invited inside their big house, that's all. But we'll always be guests only. and it's ok for me.

Finally seeing good results in Google, so at least it's worth making the changes they wanted. I still think a petition signed by lots of webmasters would make a difference to Google, they must know they need out sites/content to have places to show their ads. Even small sites using Adsense contribute to there bottom line. I will re-work the petition and re-post.

Epic fail. Google serves its search results for searchers, NOT webmasters!
You would be better off spending time improving your site, as it still sucks.

Well, looking at your site, I'd penalize it for a whole bunch of crap; it reeks of a turd being polished by an SEO-tard, so I'm a bit shocked that any of the dozen plus updates of the past few years haven't resulted in being slapped down.

Before I even look under the hood the inaccessible fixed metric fonts and broken attempt at responsive design, mated to "logical document structure, what's that" really isn't helping things.

Endless pointless classes for nothing, endless pointless DIV for nothing, pointlessly redundant title attributes, clearing DIV like it's still 2001, gibberish use of numbered headings, redundant headings with content cloaking, and an ape-shit ridiculous 76k of markup to deliver 6.5k of plaintext and barely over a dozen content images -- and you wonder why you're being slapped down?!?

Seriously, content cloaking, keyword stuffing, nothing resembling a logical document structure, 1.4 megabytes in nearly 50 separate files to deliver THAT, and you're wondering why it got de-ranked by an update?

Google is slapping down poorly written abusive websites -- and whether you realize it or not, THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT YOU HAVE THERE!!!

The real laugh being the pathetically broken attempt at a responsive layout, when it lacks all the stepping stones one should have BEFORE making it responsive like elastic and semi-fluid design... much less the laundry list of accessibility issues that results in it likely being useless to a LOT of potential visitors.

That said, entirely what I expect out of a site built with Joomla; much like turdpress, the "i can haz intarnets" use of markup just leaves one flabberghasted at the scale of ineptitude involved.

But sure, have your "Wah, wah, I didn't take the time to understand HTML or what websites are for" petition, I'm SO sure it will be paid attention -- NOT.

    Hi OP,

Your website is scary and freaky, too many updates and amass such a colossus mass print. Do consider rearranging them or at least get a freelancer to assist you.

    Hi Sarahk,

I apologize for the harsh tone :'(

Though I didn't really meant it in this way, it was meant to be a 'wake-up-call' for OP. My belief is that intelligent criticism will be able to render utmost assistance to anyone in D.P.

    Once again, pardon my language.

    Thank-you,

I would, but that could be the bold tags doing numbered headings job, pointless classes on every paragraph, gibberish nonsensical use of what few numbered headings are actually present, and the content being outnumbered by the code 14:1

It reeks of "Semantic markup what's that?" and "Logical document structure, what's that?" -- hardly a surprise though on a Tranny document.
