Why would you use WordPress SEO by Yoast AND All in One SEO Pack AND SEO Plugin by SQUIRRLY? Why would you use Google XML sitemaps if you have WordPress SEO by Yoast, which has that feature in it? Why would you use TWO caching plugins?

    Anyway, here is mine:

    1. Ad Injection - An easy way to place ads into your posts.
    2. Akismet - the best spam protection plugin.
    3. Clean My Archives - creates a simple archive page.
    4. Google Analyticator - keeps my nerdy need to check my stats satisfied.
    5. Growmap Anti Spambot Plugin - creates a button that people must tick when leaving a comment.
    6. iThemes Security - The best security plugin I've ever used!
    7. Newsletter - a great free newsletter.
    8. Nofollow for external link - saves me editing all my posts and inputting the rel=nofollow tag.
    9. WP-Optimize - Cleans up my database, deletes spam comments and old post revisions.
    10. WordPress SEO - My favourite SEO plugin.

I stumbled across it completely by chance. I moved to BlueHost and was hacked into EIGHT times in two months and no amount of changing passwords and deleting and reinstalling fresh files was fixing it, I was speaking to someone who mentioned the plugin and I've not had a problem since. :)

Eight times OMG! Someone you know? Is the plugin compatible with the latest version of WP? Will it not change any settings on the frontend?

    In no particular order:

    Akismet, of course.
AdRotate (because it has ad tracking, even if you only run one provider).
    Contact Form 7
    Google Analyticator
    Login LockDown
    Optimize Database after Deleting Revisions
    TIEtools
    Updraft Plus
    W3 Total Cache

    I also frequently use:

    Auto Post Thumbnail
    Black&White Guru
    DX Delete Attached Media
and an old version of Pie Register that isn't as clunky as the new one!

Here's my list - inspired by all the other lists (and in no ranking order :))

    - Akismet
    - Jetpack (a bundle of plugins - and it always works - made by the guys behind wordpress.com)
    - Lightbox popup - the name says it all
    - WordPress SEO by Yoast
    - Piklist - I'm quite new to this plugin but it looks very promising
    - Quickbox popup - I'm using it for newsletters :)
    - WPRemote - I'm watching 30 sites and can update most of them with one click
    - ZOHO Livedesk - and other Zoho plugins
    - WordFence - I've used it for finding flaws in a hacked site and repairing it
    - WooCommerce for eCommerce - It runs smoothly in several sites

Some excellent plugins listed here. I will have to check a few out. Especially the ZOHO Livedesk, could be just what I am looking for.

Here are some I use regularly on different sites.
    • CloudFlare - Love how Cloudflare helps speed up sites and keep them online.
    • Compress PNG for WP - Using the TinePNG api to compress PNG files.
    • Crazyegg-Heatmap-Tracking - For testing different layouts.
    • List category posts - Use it to show other posts from the same category.
    • Page-list - Use it to easily create a page list of other pages.
    • Pods - Custom Content Types and Fields - For creating and managing custom taxonomies and custom post types.
    • Rel Nofollow Checkbox - Easily add the nofollow attribute on links.
    • rtSocial - One of the fastest social sharing plugins there is.
    • WordPress Notification Bar - For special announcements.
    • WP Exit Page Redirect - For website exit warnings. I coded this one myself for a client and use it on several places. Comes in handy when a client wants to link out but provide a warning to uses that they are leaving the site.
