The truth is that not all backlinks are created equal, even if it's from a site with a high Page Rank. Nowadays what Google favors most is a quality backlink from a NICHE RELEVANT site, and that's exactly what you should be going after. Forget about GSA and automatic backlink software, manually prospecting for link opportunities is the way to achieve the best results although it does take a little effort. And the most cost efficient way to do link prospecting is by using Google itself. Use search operators to find viable sites that is not only topically relevant but also trustworthy. You can look at the site's backlink profile using Open Site Explorer or Majestic SEO to make sure there are no spammy backlinks in their profile. You can use these search operators in Google or fire them up in Scrapebox for a full list of linking opportunties.
