Hello.. Please share your views on it:- No- follow backlinks are marked as bad backlink?? SEO submission sites(bookmarking, directory etc) with PR -2,3,4 are marked as a bad backlinks if our targeted website PR is “0”???
Below are some points where you can identify bad links. Low Domain Flow Metrics (Majestic Citation & Trust Flow, MOZ Domain Authority and Page Authority) Irrelevant CCTLD (Links from country level domains where your business has no target audience / operating presence) e.g. A link to a local UK florist from SomeRandomDomain.ru Unrelated links from websites that bear no relevance to the content / theme of our website The number of outbound links from the page your backlink is situated – the more outbound links the less credible your link becomes Website home page harbours 0 or N/A Google Page Rank (N/A could be an indicator that the website has been banned) No social activity (Likes, Shares & Retweets) Overly optimised, keyword rich anchor text Little or no indexed pages in Google’s SERP’s Thanks
Thanks Krunal Patel.. You means to say, a bookmarking site with PR - 2, 3, 4... not counted as a bad backlink... example - http://cyberplea.com/ http://www.bookmark4you.com/ and such many more bookmarking sites.. Dear, i share you one of my backlink present in dis site.. ((http://cyberplea.com/story.php?title=light-commercial-treadmill-in-india-on-demand#discuss)).. this link is do-follow link and site PR is 3.. What you think.. its a bad backlink...
check point no 1 & 2, if both are ok than dont worry about google penalty. Low Domain Flow Metrics (Majestic Citation & Trust Flow, MOZ Domain Authority and Page Authority) Irrelevant CCTLD (Links from country level domains where your business has no target audience / operating presence) e.g. A link to a local UK florist from SomeRandomDomain.ru
Well @Krunal Patel has pointed out some good ways to know that a backlink is bad or not, but there are some more points I would like to update here is look the forum profile which is inactive from the long time they also act as bad backlink, and yes putting links over the keyword i.e like I am having a keyword "Google Doodle" and on that I have put anchor link which is pointing to my site is going to be put under the bad backlink means it is spam. Rest the directories are concern I would say directory submission is outdated technique there is no need of it anymore. I would suggest you should subscribe your self to the searchengineland posts for keeping yourself updated to the change in trend of the search engine ranking system.
Thanks John Dave .. I am sharing one of my backlink here, Please you can check that link... and clear my doubt. And what about bookmarking site with PR - 2,3 ,4... ??? Its good or bad backlink...
if SEO submission sites are still not considered bad, they will be with the next Google animal coming. All those press-release agencies and stuff
So you think if you just put a link on a site that has some PR then you are automatically safe? I would think there are plenty of sites that have PR and have low quality aspects.... and bookmarketing is the new link farm... Think that is high quality?
Great discussion here. Some good feedback bouncing back and forth. My two cents towards the still open questions: Definitely not. @dscurlock makes a good point. Anyone could take a PR5 and throw 200000 viagra links at it from comment posts and forum signatures and it becomes a terrible link source in a matter of 24 hours. If I had to give a basic criteria of what makes a good and bad link, is simply the answer to this question: Has it ever been used by SEOs? What are the anchors going into these websites? Do they tell a consistent story? A tech site should have all anchors related to tech. A 'buy gap jeans' anchor is completely out of context. Where are these sites getting their links from? Stay away from: Spammy directories Blog comments .ru, SAPEs, etc What does the anchor text distribution look like? Natural with ~50% brand and URL anchors Unnatural with most anchors being a money keyword: "louis vutton outlet" I completely avoid blog comments and forum signatures. The only people that would fill out the "Website" field of a blog comment is the owner of the site they're linking to. Clearly a SEO tool. I'll be surprised if this lasts another year. Bookmarking doesn't help SERP ranking, but it doesn't hurt either. I've run tests where I used the same money anchor 1000 times pointing to the same page on a test website. Zero effect on SERPs. What social bookmarks are good for is: Social signal: Any site getting exposure through backlinks, should also be getting some love in the social sphere. If you're building backlinks, you should also be building bookmarks and shares as a credibility indicator. Anchor text diversity: Social bookmarks are a good place for you to throw in your topic and long-form anchors. For example, in the clothing niche "These completely new shirt designs are blowing my mind." With any luck, and the right catchy headline, you're bound to get some referral traffic.
Nofollow links aren't bad links. http://moz.com/blog/how-i-learned-to-stop-worrying-and-love-the-nofollow
