Making a budget for my new niche website

    Hi there,

I've been out of the business for 2 years now and I want to come back to niche website creation. I'm a little rusted, so I would like to have your opinion on the money I should spend on content. I thinking about going in the tech tips niche.

Right now, these are the expenses i plan to start my website:
    domain : 10-15$
    hosting : 60$ for a few months
    content : 50-60$

What do you think ? Do you think it would be enough to invest 50-60$ in unique well written content ? In the past I used to write my own articles, but now I have less time so that is why i'm a little lost in content investment.

    Thank you

I think it's feasible to survive on that budget. Obviously, I think it's low, but not too low to not make it work.

Be aware, however, that by outsourcing content writing you can fall prey to the regurgitated garbage that is out there on every other blog/site. If you're only willing to pay $5 per article you will get what you're willing to pay for it. I am leery that you will get well-written content for $60. Maybe if you outsource just a couple articles and then write the rest on your own? That may work.

    Hello,
The domain price is right, the hosting is fine, but I don't find enough the budget dedicated to content. If you want quality, you'll probably have to pay at least 0,01$/word. That being said, you'll finish the budget too soon. I'm looking for a virtual assistant,so I could help you with a few things and money in exchange of your services, but as your time is limited, I don't think you're eligible .
Anyway I hope this helps. Wish you all the best!

I concur with the rest of the DP members that the budget for your content is too low. Yes it may be sufficient to get you 10 articles, but in the long run, you will need to post new content regularly (more than just 10 articles) to improve your search results ranking.

Thank you for the help! So let's say i invest a little more (100$ for launch articles and then 10-20$ per week to keep the content fresh), how long do you think it could take to start making some money ?

It takes at least 3 months for the search engines to index your site in order to reap the benefits of SEO. You might want to allocate a portion of your budget to paid advertising.

When investing in advertising, how to make sure that you're not just buying some short term traffic?
