Hey there dudes, I was thinking of moving my blog from site.com/blog to site.com/. do you guys have any ideas of how the rankings will be affected for this?, The site is a wordpress site.
Hi - I guess if you have substantial traffic or pagerank and/or rankings for these pages you would have to do permanent 301 redirects. This lets the search engines know where the new location for the file(s) would be and passes all relevant page juice with it. I believe it is best to use the .htaccess or httpd.conf file in Apache for this instead of a META redirect. I read somewhere that search engines do not follow these META tags to updated locations. Also, Gogle has the following resources available for changing site structure and rankings: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/34444?hl=en Jinx
