Contest $100 design contest Wacky stuff blog

Hi all.
I am starting a blog that will list pictures and short descriptions of out-of-the-way or odd, weird things. You all know those clever liitle innovative/cool/wacky/zany thingies like those:


, etc. Maybe some good design ideas, DIY, stuff like that.
I'm planning to have some things in stock so it will be a symbiosis of a fun blog/shop


The domain I bought for this is wacktus.com, like wacky cactus. The website is live with WP installed.
As I see it now, the logo and design should be around the cactus theme. Colors yellow(sand/soil), blue(the sky) and of course green(the cactus itself).
So far I see the logo with a distinct and original funny and wacky cactus, which(should I say who from now on?) will have a character and can then be branded and recognized. May be eccentric or even silly... But he has to be unique and wacky

So there's 2 parts to the contest as I see it:
1. Show you idea, the concept you see the website is about. Colours, layout... Some WP themes you may suggest. (Free or not - I don't mind spending some $$ on a nice theme.)
Winner here will get $40

2. Logo design. The Cactus, domain name... You know what a good logo is, right?
The winner here gets $60.

I would rather it will be 1 person that would get the idea and win all the $100. There definitely will be more work on the project to discuss with the right person.
But I will be happy to pay for the tasks separately if 2 different people win the contest parts.

Thank you for your tries, I like the most(in submission order):
RavenDesigns, I like your vision of smiling or giggling cactus. Looks positive.
AeyPip, I like the idea of schematic kind-of careless type cartoon cactus. Looks little bit fuckedup on something heavy, or scared? maybe try to make him a little more positive?
Xdexter, I like your vision of the cactus, esp the 1st one wih cactus stripes on it. It's wacky and stylish.
john butto, I like the wacky writing font you use. Thought the cactus itself does not look too positive or lively.

I also got some PM with some logos and WP theme suggestions as well, so I have a very good feeling that I will have enough choice to call this contest pretty soon.

Thank you all for you input.
Xdexter, you have come the closest to what I see will suit the website. I don't have a set vision yet, so please bear with me for a little longer

What I think should be changed:
- writhing should not be texturized as cactus. Plain black looked better. Maybe a more wacky font? Or maybe not include the writing to the logo at all and rather have it with a regular font somewhere in a lower corner. Just like you did with the "www,wacktus,com" writing. Also I think substituting the letter "T" with the cactus is not a good idea. So it should be a separate wrinting "wacktus.com", no "www", not sure which location will work the best.
- make the cactus more wacky? a drop of spit hanging from it's tongue? "spiral" eyes?
I also thought a wacky hat(but not a regular sambrero hat that's on every cactus) could also be somewhere nearby looking like it's just fallen off the cactus when it suddenly went wacko. Not sure about it, but could also work. Any other ideas? What else could make him more wacky and distinct, while staying positive?
