What is more important : Content or Backlinks

Backlinks are incoming links to a website or web page. The number of backlinks is an indication of the popularity or importance of that website or page.

 

content is very important, but I strong believe backlinks are EVEN more important.

 

You pretty much have to do both, but just know there will be the same level of content quality for your "website". In simple terms a "catchers mitt".

 

Content is more important for me. If you just have quantity of backlinks but of no quality that is of no worth as well.

 

Depends who you and how developed your site is.

If your a big brand with lots of links and traffic already content is king.

If your starting up with few back links and little traffic, Links and social buzz are very important too.

I am guessing you need to be paying more attention to links than you want to.

Unique Content is very important.Its came to many visitor.Just try to write unique content.

Well, it is a fact that we should stick to the old adage – content is king. You have to get your content right in clear, concise and informative way. At the same time, good numbers of quality backlinks are of equal importance. Sites with unique content and quality backlinks simply rank better.

 

If you write good content no need to worry about traffic and backlinks, write content for the users they will share your content if they really like it, will get good traffic if you write for users.
These days dont trust on link-building believe on write good content.

 

Backlinks are essential, IMHO. However, these links should lead to a unique and interesting content, or they will be a waste of time and money.

Therefore - you cannot choose between bread and butter. If you want a sandwich, you need both. The same goes to website, content and backlinks.

 

If you are not a commercially-oriented site, content is more important, but if your site is designed to make money NOW, linking is more important to obtain the optimal amount of traffic your "quality content" deserves. Really, this question is like saying "what's more important, your right leg or your left leg?" If you opened a store with great products but never advertised, would you get the traffic? Word of mouth, online or offline, is usually not enough.

The web is filled with great sites with great content nobody knows about, because nobody is linking to it. Google propagandizes "great content" is all you need to succeed because that notion supports its bottom line presumption that search engines will 'organically' get a site sufficient traffic. But what level of traffic is needed to support a monetized site (or to properly spread the intended message of a non-profit site) is a strategic decision to be made by the site owners, not a search engine. Backlinking permits a site to control the metric of how much exposure it needs to achieve its goals, rather than leaving it to Google.

 

Come on... What does content have to do with rankings? If you have a fresh website/page, it doesn't matter if you have 20k words, award winning, mind blowing content when you are on page 12500.

Talking about correlation with content and ranking is ridiculous, Google doesn't have librarian robots going around and checking the quality of content and than ranking the website according to that. Google is a math problem, an algorithm, it doesn't add or deduct points for SEO when you have interesting stuff written.
Content quality just matters for keeping and engaging the users on your website, and zero in correlation with rankings, who says this just repeats gibberish without actually doing serious SEO.

Make an experiment and see for yourself. Go buy $2k worth of content and publish it and see where it goes (tip: nowhere).
Then go build 5x PR5 niche relevant homepage links for 20 times less money and see yourself shooting to top pages in a matter of days.

 

Nice to see a person knowing how the things go. So bored of the same old story being repeated, of people, going after huge profits without any desire to invest, and of people promising this is possible due to high quality content.

Internet business is business. Every business needs investments in order to generate income. You cannot get money out of thin air.

If you are not ready to pay for SEO and backlinks - do not even bother registering a domain.

 

Content is very important but I don't think this will be sufficient enough to really get good rankings for that page. You'd still need to work on your off-page (link building) efforts.

 

Content is always king and very imp,unique content will help you to get high rank, but we need back links too, quality back links are pillar for SEO,

For my point of view content is more important but also create backlink for the website.

 

High quality content first. Then quality link building, most of the time if you already have high quality contents they (bloggers) do the linking to your site. I mean they will do it voluntarily.
