The main aim of these updates was to display more relevant and higher quality websites on the first page of search results. That is why one of the most important things for SEO is blogging.

Blogging adds new and fresh content to your website that improves your freshness score. It should be relevant and informative to the searched information. Content needs to help people solve problems or answer questions. Marketing today isn’t about the advertisement, the product, or the service, it’s about the problem that the customer needs to solve. In their quest to provide highly relevant content to search queries, search engines know this and have recalculated the algorithm to favor this type of content.

But the main question is that whether blogs are still relevant in the near future, because, nowadays, it becomes harder and harder to provide qualitative content. Having a blog side-to-side with your main website won't hurt. Some good keyword placement in the posts will help. So, all in all, I think if you have something important to write about, having a blog on the side is a good idea.

"Blog" means personal blogs for me. There may be also corporate blogs but I don't consider them as a blog. If someone wants to use a blog to help clients, I can't call it blogging. It's a type of customer service or advertising but not blogging.
Blogging is a personal activity. Corporates use blogs as a CMS, not for blogging. There is a big difference like the difference between personal mobile phones and corporate landlines.

Since blogging is a personal activity, it's not a part marketing activities of businesses. They use blog software, not blogging.
