How to rank high in Google for Tech News?

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by wrigley26, Jan 28, 2014.

    Hello everyone!!

How long it might take for a new tech blog to rank higher on Google?
What are the SEO techniques one has to follow to get there fast?

I know there lot of tech blogs out there which are pretty great. What are the chances of a new tech blog against them. What would be the strategy to at least get some respectable amount of visitors?

    Thanks in Advance.

Too much competition. You would need a really REALLY large budget.

People with that mindset don't succeed. And the methods people try to do that don't either.
Patience and hard work... or you're wasting your time....

Focus on Topics in Trends (Watch out twitter and Google insights)
    Use lot of longtail terms
    Add interesting facts
Use shocking headlines (lol.. they do work in tech niche)
And fall in love with digg, twitter and reddit.

If possible, try contributing to other industry blogs.

Your SEO would be done and traffic will be on the blog. Keep rankings secondary, They follow the good traffic and sharing.

I agree with indyonline. There is a ton of competition and you're going to be up against some huge established sites. I'd try finding a less competitive niche.

First of all, Thanks for your suggestions.

I agree that the competition is very high. I have already written around 90 posts and I am posting it on Social media.
Shouldn't I be getting at least a couple of visitors per day via search engines? Has Google algorithms become so strict?
Traffic is in single digits. :(

Another thing I would like to know is how much does content length affect the rankings?

    Awaiting your wonderful suggestions...

    Hello,
Competition on this niche is fierce! Very! If you want to rank high on this niche you have to provide real value. Write content for users, be compelling and as unique as possible. And also, be very active on social media. Build a community around your website.

There are already tons of tech sites. You need to build real authority site to rank. Getting links from authority sites will only help in ranking on google.

If you have good money to invest in advertising, then you can do. If your budget is limited, not enough or don't have any, leave it. You will only waste your time and money if spent.

It's an impossible question to answer because it depends upon how much time and effort you are prepared to invest. The more you invest the better your prospects, but no one can guarantee you a great ranking, no matter what they promise. With good content though and a clear SEO strategy I have no doubts that you'll make some money from your efforts :)

You should use unique and informative content and try to write for users not for search engines. Do fantastic on page activity for your website. Once on page is completed your website will start to come up on first page of Google.Or you can also hire some SEO person from sites like SEOclerks, listingdock etc to improve the ranking.
