Never happend, but I assume it might happen when you try to post a question and then answer your own question from another account to advertise your website/service.

If you weren't answering your own question, maybe you can dispute the ban.

Including a link in your reply can get you reported.

I wouldn't even bother with yahoo answers anymore. Even if you provide good quality answers plus adding a link in the source box (your website) you will still get banned. So its a waste of time

Adding links to your own site will likely always get you banned. Yahoo are catching onto what people are doing in order to get easy backlinks and preventing it. If the information that was relevant to your answer wasn't on the homepage/landing page of the link you provided, they probably flagged it as spam. :(

The very same thing happened to me but I shrugged it off because I thought it was a glitch on YA part. I had posted a really long detailed answer which was rich with info with a link to a website (Wikipedia) and got banned what seemed immediately. I didn't care too much because I have multiple accounts and have gotten away with links in my answers in these accounts. Glad to know it happened to somebody else too!

You really can't rely on yahoo answers anymore as a source of traffic. They're very particular on people asking questions especially the reference links you provide. Read the TOS for the guidelines.

You need to make sure you don't come across as only being there to promote your website. Make sure you give a long, detailed natural response. You can give them references to your site without indicating that its yours in the answer, or leave it in the sources.

I haven't been banned. Most people that get banned, get banned for spamming links for "SEO".
