2. Forum participation. What kind of participation do you suggest - article contribution, mentoring, starting hollywars?

3. Guest blogging - if you suggest this one then you might also suggest some goddamn places where the one can find a guest blogg!!!

1. Social Media - use ifttt.com to synchronize you Social Media and be able to post everywhere at the same time.

2. Forum participation

Submit articles on "How to..." and guidelines topics - they tend to attract most of the attention.
Offer your help to the people in order to increase your status in the community.
Simply advise people to use your service where it's applicable (no spamming)
Post reviews on different service providers.

Actually this is not free. You need to work on it. Create best video. You can't get ultimate traffic once you create a video. You need to provide best work to do like with graffics and many more.

Nothing is free. Everything needs work. You are just paying work instaed of money!

I would be using social media but as others have said you need good and interesting content at your forum. People don't want to waste time there if there is nothing that they can learn or contribute to.

The trick is to pick 2 methods you believe you would enjoy doing then stick to only those methods. Once you see results move to to 2 new methods.

After you have tried every method discard the ones that are not producing results - and focus on the ones that are.

 

Since your website is a forum, which is crawled and indexed regularly by google, try to post some really good, relevant posts on your blog, in order to create value for your readers. video marketing is one of the best way to get traffic,you can just make a video related to your niche and do some marketing to your video,or you can hire somebody to do so,and it also has advantage about ranking on search engine like google! there are a lot of useful information about video marketing here as well,learn and use it,it will work!

Facebook groups are very easy to reach + GREAT TRAFFIC. You need a mailing list in order to do more serious business with your forum

 

Blog commenting an forum posting. Be sure to leave a link back to your blog.

 

The problem with forums is that, if you don't have an active community, your traffic will not convert as leads. Sad!

Even before you think of promoting your forum, ask your friends, colleagues or audiences to participate in that.

Use warm approach first, instead of approaching cold right away.

 

It can be hard to get your friends and family to help. But it is true that they are your best shot of getting the name out there.

 

In my opinion it is more easy to get high quality traffic when you use big communities (facebook groups are good), slideshare.com for example

Just that it takes a lot of time & even money, which might not be appealing.
