Wordpress Theme Help

Can you guys suggest a really good theme that's easy to manipulate for a newb like me?

I would like to have one theme that I can change as necessary, quickly and easily. I want to spend my time ranking sites and monetizing....I don't want to mull over code for hours and hours on end.

Free or paid....either way.

If you just started and want to learn then you should stick with themes available on the official WP repository, they follow good coding practices. Start with basic one so you don't overwhelmed with gazillion features.

For me, the best starter theme is Underscores.

 

what is the category of website that you planning to build?? Based on the category we can find themes that can be customised eaisly.

 

If you want to manipulate a theme, as a newbie, try to stay off the WP frameworks (Genesis, Thesis, Thematic, etc)
You can start with the native ones (thirty twelve, thirteen, fourteen).

word press is realy so easy to lean , but at first basic concept on PHP language and HTML CSS etc

I am having one HTML theme and I want to use it within Wordpress. Is there anyone who knows how to convert HTML theme to WP theme?

 

Wordpress Twenty Fourteen is super easy to manipulate easily straight from the dashboard. Depending on your content (photos, videos, chats, etc) you can really make your blog look amazing using featured posts and other options. Check it out! Then maybe use a child theme to change around the colors, fonts, etc. Good Luck!!!

 

I highly recommend taking a look at Elegant Themes if you want to spend most of your time monetizing and marketing. Also, themify is pretty good. These aren't necessarily the best options for versatility, but they're some of the best "finished" themes on the market at a reasonable price point.

I also recommend the WP Twenty Fourteen Theme because it is also good free theme to use.

There are thousands of free and paid themes to choose from and honestly if you were to spend some time going through the themes you can find - you might end up spending a lot of hours you could've spent doing something more productive like increasing the traffic to your blogs.

Worrying about the Theme 'too much' cab really cost you. And it is okay to worry about how your site look but you have to learn about keeping it simple.

I've learned to keep it simple but powerful.. lol

It's pretty easy to just break up your html into a few separate files, then insert template tags for whatever you need.

The only part where I copy code from another theme is for the index.php loop. I always take from the old default theme from version 2.9 just because it's easy to read. Try modifying that one if you must, it's a lot less confusing than the current default in my opinion.

Then if theres anything "custom" you need done, you can pretty much google a tutorial, or find a tutorial for everything.

 

I would always recommend wordpress default themes, ie Twenty Twelve, Twenty Thirteen, to beginners. They are a good start point.
Then you may try some premium themes from Elegent Themes, WooThemes, etc.
Theme frameworks are also good options, I recommend Thesis and Genesis.
