    Hi webmasters,
I have a Wordpress powered blog where I frequently write on top 10 lists of products. It's up and live since 2013. On this blog I have few posts like "Top 10 smartphones of 2013", "Top 10 tablets of 2013". I have used titles, keyboards, slugs in SEO friendly manner. These posts are driving some traffic to my site.

Now coming in 2014, I have new list for "Top 10 smartphones of 2014", "Top 10 tablets of 2014". Previous posts are outdated but still getting traffic. I think these are no longer useful for buyers. So I need to change these posts.

    Here come my questions-

    1. Should I use a 301 redirect from "Top 10 smartphones of 2013", "Top 10 tablets of 2013" to "Top 10 smartphones of 2014", "Top 10 tablets of 2014" ? Or I need to create separate posts and hyperlink the fresh articles from older ones?

    2. Do you have any idea what will happen if I delete old post content, change post title, meta description and keep the slug as is and put fresh content? This process will replace present keywords from post body and bring new keywords in action.

I am afraid to play too much because of current rankings. I know the easiest issue is creating separate posts. But I am considering outdated information issue with higher importance.

What do you normally do in such cases?

Please be kind to explain the issue instead of one-liners.
    Thanking you in advance!!

Having old posts builds your credibility as it shows how long you've been doing this, people can read them and decide whether they agree with your conclusions. My advice - don't touch them.

Instead, head over to mashable and see what they do with their "see also" promotion. There will be plugins to do this automatically or you could set up your own where you go through your old posts and link to the new version and then when the old post is viewed the new post will be promoted.
