I'm sure my WP blog has been penalized by Google - any ideas why?

    Hi there,

For a while now I've noticed that my WP blog FootyBlog.net is performing really badly in Google. If you were to search for "footy blog" or "football blog" a year or so ago, it would be number 1.
However now you have to go through many many pages to find it. I believe it's because I used this anchor text too many times. I've now requested sites to change their anchor links to become "FootyBlog.net" or a completely unrelated footy variation.

I'm wondering if anyone is able to take a look at my site and see if there's perhaps another reason for my sites poor positions in Google. It's not just affected me for the "footy blog" search, but a load of other searches that used to bring in traffic. Perhaps it was a manual punishment by Google, around the time of Panda etc?

Is there any manual action I can take to "re-submit" my site after fixing any of the linking issues I've had?

    Thanks for any help offered!

One of the reason which I noticed is the content in the post. I openned 3 to 5 of your post and your posts are not having more than one line of content and now google is fond of content , Try to write minimum 150 words in each post. More contents means real content and something fruitful for the visitors . Without content google will take it as scam site ........... This is all what i noticed rest , senior DP members will guide you more , whether less content in the post can be a factor of Google penalty ...

Checking back your incoming links if they're bad links !?
Also reconsidering your outbound link from your site..as your information, your site is a blog then check back your blog is containing original content that didn't infringe on copyright.
After all, go to your google webmaster tool and ask Google for a reconsider process. This process may take few days to a month. If your blog is not guilty, then your ranking will be back.

    Good luck :)

I forget. You can disavowlinks that you think they're bad incoming links. Hope that will help you out.

well, it might because of the bad incoming link , i would prefer you to remove it and then again submit it for re consideration.

Sounds to me like you know what the problem is, footer links were actively targeted by Google in late 2013. When did you see a drop in rankings?

The real problem here is the mix of footer links and the potential of having some pretty toxic backlinks in the mix.

Have you had your links reviewed yet? What was the result of that?

If your blog site is penalized, it very well could be having too similar of an anchor text distribution.

What I do is 3 kinds of anchor text:
    1. My keyword
    2. My website's brand name or variation of the URL/domain
    3. Completely random stuff (like click here for instance)

If your website really is hardcore penalized by Google, it may be worthwhile to stop the robots from even crawling your site anymore. That way you can setup a new website and plug in all that content.

It sucks, but it is often easier to start a new website than trying to repair one that got Google slapped.
