PC Games

Hello all
Do you think the PC game industry is in unstoppable decline, There are less and less new games being sold with one well known UK seller not even stocking them any more. With the PC sales also in decline the future is not great. Will be interested in your comments.

 

I do think that the PC game industry is on a decline. The mobile phones and the tablets are capturing the market. But I am expecting the record sales of a game called as "GTA 5" on PC. So looking forward to this game!

 

Steam has been on a steady increase (http://www.gamasutra.com/blogs/MattMatthews/20131231/207814/Gathering_Steam_Valves_service_doubles_every_three_years.php), so it seems the PC industry is getting better, not worse. What's dying are physical stores like GameStop, but that was bound to happen at some point.

 

According to this report, It has still hop in PC gaming industry. The thing is that game developers should come up with unique and good ideas. Their aim should be to have more engaged users!

 

I think PC games are good and it is a good industry now days.

 

It is undoubtedly, but the growth in Mobile phone games is a lot!

 

Pc is cool for several reasons.

1. Too many pirated game can be found.
2. Player can customize his PC as he wants. Not like consoles but in pc you can do it easily.
3. Players have mods in PC which is not there in console unless you jailbreak it. which is against the law

yeah the only reason the growth of Mobile phone games is much just because one can carry it on with him anywhere he goes. but then again you can not carry your PC with you when you get out from your home.

 

I don't think PC games are declining. Pretty much all the developers first release a console version of the game and release a pc version that is capable of using its full power shortly.

The reason your local store might not be shelfing pc games is probably because not a lot of people buy pc games physically nowadays. With online stores like Steam and Origin you really don't need to go buy a disc like in consoles. I think the last time i bought a pc game physically was Moto GP 07 which was a long time ago.

Even though PC sales are going down as personal devices since we have tablets and smartphones now, they are still selling good as gaming devices.

 

Hey Gazi, I agree with you, portable devices is the present and the future!

 

Tablets are selling like hot cakes, and survey show that people use tablets to play games with the highest priority!

 

I agree with you, because Xbox, Play station3, PSP, Iphone, i pad they are all getting video games 1st.
any new game comes in all these gadgets and then came in pc. that's why it decline pc game industry.
and you know that as well that every time when new game came in pc they changed their pc requirement like:: Ram2 to 4 gb, New graphic card , corei3 to core i5, so we have to replace our whole system and buy a new one, but in Xbox or pl3 it is not.

They just taking our money more, Pc games one's played by every one.
Pc games like: super Mario, Delta force, taken tag, igi, max Payne, call of duty, need for speed 2, they are all our old memories. ha

Yes, it is. The best time for PC game industry has been gone. Now it is for online game or other offline such as Playstation, Xbox, Wii...
However, I still love the old games (PC) such as Age Empire. Easy to install and enjoyable

Yes!! Even the Roadrash, NFS2 and games like tycoon games! Which all games can you think about?
