    Hi Friends,

I want to know that is it possible to get password protected pages indexed by Google? As per Google their crawlers can not go beyond password protected pages.

There are different ways of doing this, and some are better than others. I think the best solution is to create a white-list of the IPs used by Google and other important search engines. When a request for a page comes from one of these IPs, have the system bypass the login step.

In my view this is the preferred and safe solution. It avoids cloaking, a method that Google considers black hat and can penalize you for, which consists in displaying different content to the search engine bot from what the human user sees.

But remember that that if your index is both indexed and cached, then smart users will be able to look the content up in the cache without logging in. If you want to avoid that, use the NOARCHIVE instruction on the relevant pages.

    I hope this helps.

@PhilipSEO that was really an appreciating answer to the question.

@prashant.jain Though google wont crawl your password protected pages but yes in case it is cached, then users can view the content without logging in. NOARCHIEVE would be a better option in this case.
