We generally purchase domains from godaddy but I think its quite expensive if we need bulk of around 30-40 domains. Any idea where to buy domains for low price?
You don't really "buy" domain names you pay a company to register them. Most registers charge around $10 the only ones I see much cheaper are .info and other non-desirable names. I think you have to be careful about getting the cheapest register because if they are not making it financially you will get no support and could have a hard time changing the DNS or transferring ownership.
Thanks for your reply averyz. So $10 annual charge? Isn't that a bit expensive for starters? Any suggestions on the registrar?
I have been using name.com they are not that bad but I might try namecheap for my next one. Support is important to me if I have problems transferring a name or something I want to be able to call them and fix it right away. $10 is really not that much if you take into acct they have to run a business. Personally I think quality of names is better then quantity , you can always sell a good domian name but if you have a bunch of cheap ones it's hard to sell them. Also if you pay 3-4 years of registration on a cheap name if it not good, it still not good in 4yrs you are out $30-$40.
You have a great point. I should rather invest good domain names. Thanks for your comments and suggestion.
Good luck. If you watch some of the online domain auctions you can get a feel for what are good ones and what they sell for.
Check with active domain.com or namecheap.com and ask them if they have any discount offers for bulk domain registration.
I know you want to save money, but to be honest... it will cost you more to move all your domains to a proper company, rather then just paying the extra now and sticking with a good one. After trying alot of different registrars, and getting really really sick of them, I am happy to pay whatever namecheap charges for domains. What do you need the domains for? sites for flipping? selling the domains online or at auction? If so, then probly stick with namecheap or godaddy, as these both have marketplaces where you can list your domains. I have woken up a few times to having domains I had listed for sale, be sold on namecheap without any effort from me, and you will find that if you sell domains here (or other forums) that if it is godaddy or namecheap, it is easy to push to the buyers account. If you go for a cheap registrar, it may make it harder for you to push. Not to mention, there are sites I walked away from buying, simply due to where the domain was registered as it was not worth the hassle. Look i know that over 30-40 domains, it might cost more, but try to look at the other beniefits you gain, not just price alone. @The Guy that suggested hostgator for domains... no. no. no. bad dog!
Big +1 for NameSilo for me. Their regular prices are the lowest I've ever seen (you can see proof here: http://www.registrarowl.com/report_registrar_price_comparison.php), and they have a discount program which can help you save even more since you want bulk domains (http://www.namesilo.com/Support/Discount-Program). Been with them for 4+ years and never a problem.
