    Hey guys,

I realized that I can block majority of spam comments by simply making sure that my wordpress is up to date. However, it seems like I still get random users that sign up. Anyway to better protect against spammer bots making spam accounts under your WP blog?

    Hi there,
That the first thing I will do is make a few settings as shown image below.
Although follow this setting might not fully filter out all spam comments. However, it does help in somewhere such as minimize the spam comments.

There is a WP plugin which blocked auto comments, it must be "spam free WordPress".
    I hope this could help.

    Have a great day

It doesn't matter how much you tie down your comments/posting rights etc they will still register they just won't be able to do anything.

There are plugins to delete users who haven't contributed after a certain period of time. I wouldn't waste any energy trying to stop them registering.

Use the Akismet plugin, it identifies and blocks the spam comments./ it is a smart plugin... and a must have for every wordpress blogger.
