Can I post one article in several categories ?

Hello, I have a very very stupid question please don't get bothered. Can I post one article in few categories ? will it be harmful for my SEO ? I all ready did this. while publishing an article I check few category. Please someone suggest me am I doing wrong ?

If you're publishing an article in an article directory, there's nothing wrong with checking off multiple relevant categories.

 

I think from SEO point of view there is no any problem publishing one article in multiple categories. Dividing your article in suitable categories mean you are providing your users a easy way to access articles of a category that he/she want.
But you should not use more than 2 or three specially if you are allowing your sitemap to index categories archives in search engine, there may be chance of apearing of duplicate meta data (Remember this is rare case not usual). Otherwise don't allow sitemap to index categories archives if you are using multiple categories for a single article.
Technically there is no any SEO effects if your blog haslarge amount of posts !!

Yes what @ashrafkamal said is right and also try to restrict the search engine of not crawling those articles else it will be listed as duplicate content

Categories are meant to encompass a group of posts. It is always best to start with generic categories and work your way down with subcategories as your site grow.

 

One more question...When search my site index I saw my tag pages there and some pages like archive like: .com/1212/07/
If google Index my tags is there any problem ?

 

i am not in the favor of posting one article in few different categories.
let suppose you have an article in business promotion and you post it at wedding discussion categories ,can you imagine what admin will do with your post?
i will not recommend it!!
chose right category for right article.

 

Yes! dean is right. We are not supposed to post an article in different categories. Only we should post to the relevant category,
i.e Exactly if the user search for one topic and it is not relevant!! then it will be not useful. So, better go for exact & relevant category.

Yes i think first u find right category according to keyword...then submit article on that category..............
