Hi guys, i have seen mixed opinions on the use of blog commenting in SEO. I would like to know what you think about blog commenting and whether it is likely to hurt or boost my page rankings.

Blog commenting is more for building relationships than increasing traffic and page rankings... Eventually, after you comment enough, you will get some visits. It can't hurt your rankings, if done properly - your comments need to be valuable in order to become relevant for the author and other people engaging in comments (you can't just post "thank you's and a link back to your website - that is spam!).

By commenting on blogs, you need to add ideas, insights or simply share your experience on the topic you're commenting on.

Blog commenting is a good choice to increase backlink and to show people you know your market/site.

Lulia's comments are right on the mark. Think in terms of what you would say if the person was facing you and you wanted to build a relationship. In addition to that, I believe Google are taking a lot more notice of social signals, which includes comments. Hope this helps.

I think its good for link diversity. But, if majority of such commenting links that you get are spammy, then it could harm your rankings. If your comments are useful, then it might have a small positive impact on SEO. If you target your audience while commenting (by commenting in relevant forums) it can be a source of lead generation. But, bottomline is that SEO effects if any will be very minimal.

    Yes.
you have a website and you want to receive maximum amount of exposure possible from search engines.
If you are commenting on the irrelevant blogs then it will yield you nothing.you have to search for blogs that are related to your niche ,the seo bloggers should comment on seo related blogs,by using this techniques you can have a better seo and it is a better and safer approach to remain in the relevant niche.

blog comment is better choice for increase traffic for website/blog. but don't forgot ''read article carefully ,and your comment is not in simple word like that "thank you, nice article and many more two word reply."
Don't include your website link ,use blog or your article submission link.
    good luck for you !!!!!
