    there have been years with only one PR update / year. so chillax! they do that especially in years when they redesign PR algorithm. ;)

    Anyway it's quite an obsolete metric. Focus on user signals, SMM and conversions rather...

    Yes that's true. No PR update for this year. 2014 will be interesting. What I am worried about is of the forthcoming Algorithm update.

    People should slowly learn that PR is not that important anymore.
    The invisible ranking system that they use is based primarily on other factors.

    You are right about the invisible ranking system. However, for me the PR is useful as a very general impression of the link popularity and authority of a domain. So it will be a mistake if Google abandone the visible PR.

    Probably they will abandon it after a while, anyway... There are clear signs to this.
    Even back in 2006-2007 it was getting more sluggish, but now there are far more ranking factors. And I think those invisible ones are the ones that count mostly.

    So I think, eventually Google may give up the visible PR. But this year we can still pay attention to it. It's still an indicator of site quality...
