Avoid Freelancer.com at all cost

AVOID freelancer.com. they treated me like sh*t and felon. I made a project and deposited 1800 EUR, and have deposited another 5200 EUR (2 days ago) by wiretransfer. And 3 weeks after they limited my account, i've uploaded passport, id card, other photos, they keep treating me like a trash. I will avoid use freelancer, i will use elance / odesk on the future. I will suggest my other relatives to avoid freelancer too.

    See ya freelancer.com.

Use odesk / elance later.

Update : finally they approved my scanned documents. My account is 99% almost released. But they limit the programmer account now. So i just need to wait for the programmer's account to be released.

Update 2 : my and the programmer's account have been released now. Thank you for Alaister.

You would think they would want your business. I have heard a lot of negative stuff about them lately. I wonder what's going on. Tell me, what was your project? Did it violate their TOS?

No my project does not violate their TOS.
It is just a normal project, a website related with sport that uses 3rd party paid feed.

So i met a programmer outside freelancer, and when we had a deal, i wanted to use a platform to ensure secure payment for the project -- a kind of escrow service. There were some choices (elance, odesk, freelancer). But the programmer chose freelancer.com, because their fee is the lowest one if i upgrade my membership (and i did).

Now freelancer.com asked my identity. I have uploaded passport, gov id card, etc. But they "require" other photos.
And they asked how did i meet the programmer, what is the relationship between the programmer and the 3rd-party-paid-feed.
I even gave them screenshot of conversation between me & the programmer in my e-mail.
But they still asking for "more" information and hold my account.

What made me mad is not the verification itself, but i have done what they want by uploading stuffs yet they still ask for more, it costs time and slows down my project.

That's just sad. I don't know what's up with them. But yes. I'll avoid them if I were you. Odesk and Elance are more trusted in this industry.

Yes, this freelancer.com shady company should be avoided both as employee / employer.

I totally agree, freelancer.com is going downhill as of late. I never had big projects with them because of the risk involved. I had multiple of small projects and still had problems whether it was payment going through or disputes with freelancers.

If you want to test them out, I highly recommend putting aside a small budget on them before committing.

Yes this is my first project there, i registered there just to utilize their "escrow" service for my project. I won't use them anymore after this project is finished. I'm done with them.

Even as a freelancer I never used them. They keep taking money to get your posting featured and its very difficult to get a job there.

And there are so many scam jobs. I even fell for a few where that guy messaged me promising payments which never came.

I had better luck through elance, odesk and fiverr!

I had the same treatment from them - freelancer.com - I've registered my account, paid the fees as they request, I didn't deposit money because I was searching for full time workers and I paid the 129 USD requested. After that they just continuously rejected my project from various reasons. I've just made a CC charge back and I deleted my account from Freelancer. I'm using as well Odesk and some times elance but is useless as well, is very hard to find proper persons over the internet :)

Freelancer is a horrible site to use. In my opinion Elance is the way to go. A much higher quality of freelancers.
