I'm a SEO so I do mine myself. If you are looking to compete in a competitive SEO space and don't have the SEO knowledge then you may be best to seek some outside help. It just depends on how much your time is worth. If the amount of time you spend learning and implementing SEO costs you more than hiring a SEO then why not just hire a SEO and free up your time to make money from what you do best. If SEO fascinates you and you love doing it then it makes sense to do so...as long as it isn't losing you a lot of money.

Depends on how competitive your keywords are -- if you're unique, you can do the SEO yourself.
If you're in a busy niche, you may be able to benefit from professional SEO. But keep in mind that won't fix problems if your business 'idea' is too common.

I never had the patience to do SEO myself. I always outsourced it but still had no patience to wait around for the results.

Depends on what needs to be done. Most of the stuff I do myself but for competitive keywords you need some help. Mostly blog network links and such.

It will devastate you mentally tho. xD

Anybody can perform SEO, there's enough tutorials on the internet. The problem is that most people don't have time, SEO is such a time consuming process that many people will pay because they are too busy.

I agree with andydxgame. Anyone can perform SEO for their website. There are many references online that will explain how to do every SEO task properly. If you have a lot of free time then you can learn how to do it yourself :)

It depends on a company or person whether they want to hire some freelancer or company to perform SEO for them or else they want to do this task by themselves.

Yea I do it. I actually enjoy seeing my sites at the top of google. I'll probably outsource more as I dive into other niches but for now I'll do It myself.

    Really time consuming tho

yes, i do it myself. as you know search engine optimization is a requirement for growing your business online just like a Yellow Pages listing was in the 20th century. If you’re not prominently listed in search engine results, your business may as well not exist to millions of potential customers:eek:

If you prefer to do yourself it is nice, but you have always the risk to make mistake. If you do something wrong and your website be penalized by google, you need to change your domain and hire a proffesional seo freelancer

SEO is like most things, You can do anything yourself if you have the time. But you also have to have the time to study and figure things out.

I see many people waste so much time on fruitless SEO, it is sad.

I say, it's possible to go wrong with any of these decisions.
You gotta know what you're doing, if you decide to do it yourself.
If you hire someone (doesn't really matter whether a freelancer or an SEO service provider), check their background, ask for references, take a look at their work.
You may want to check inbound links to a random website they optimized to get an idea about their ethics.
A company may be less likely to engage in black-hat tricks, since their reputation is more valuable to them, but not always.
Sometimes it's as valuable to an individual contractor.
