Possibly either the PSU or motherboard is defective or you may have a short circuit in the computer. Also try each ram stick separately to see if one is damaged.

Try to take out your RAM and than start the computer.
Can you give more info about your setup?

Check your ram first, that's the common cause for such problems, and then check the monther board.

As you're running xp still would I be right in guessing the PC is rather old? If so, you might be due an upgrade, pc parts don't last for ever!

is it desktop or a Laptop?
    Ram & processor?
    how many ROMs?
    How many HDDs?
    How old?
    Last modification?
    Genuine Windows ?
also which stage it gets off (such as in BIOs, Starting windows/ after starting windows)

if you can give me those details I believe i will be able to help you

Clean with air and check both fans. You might simply be overheating.

You need to enter bios by pressing F2 or Del key after starting your pc wait for sometime, if it restarts there might be a problem with your hardware devices such as Ram or HardDisk, if it does not restarts at Bios then problem is within your windows it may be corrupted , reinstalling windows will fix the problem.
