Post quality niche related content to your social networks on autopilot

    Hi there fellow DP'ers!

For those who use pen names in the niches they are working in, it can be a tedious task to make all your social media networks a genuine network, like with a real person. Especially with a growing business, you just don’t have the time to post tweets or updates about your market.

I want to share with you some steps to feed your Twitter or FB account with highly niche-related tweets/updates on autopilot. Set and forget. Ok, it’ll be not as interactive as your own account on which you are truly active yourself, but it’s better than nothing at all. Definitely when your websites, niches and pen names grow bigger. And if you set this right you can surely offer some quality content, even when you are not posting yourself. Off course you can also combine this technique with your own real and personal interaction.

By the way, you may run into some misspells or weird sentences as English is not my native language.

In this post we are going to create a stream of (actual) niche-related content posted from blogs, news, videosites and forums from all over the web. Then we feed this to any social network of your choice.

We are going to work with a free service which continually keeps track of the latest content (blogs, news, forums etc) on the web. This service not only keeps track of the content of your choice, but automatically notifies you when your personal alert is triggered.

I always used google alerts to work with, but they gave up their feed functionality. I found a similar and free service called Talkwalker.

So again, after you set up a alert, you will be automatically notified when new content, which contains your keywords, is placed on the web. How broad or specified the content is that you want to receive is totally up to you, and in the way you set the alerts.

    Step 1:

    1. Set up a alert at Talkwalker Set up a couple of different alerts.( In your alert you can also use a command like: intitle:”YOUR NICHE” too so you get a bit more quality results than when you just fill in a broad term.)
    2. In the menubar now click on " manage" . Here you can set the “email notifications” to off, so your inbox doesn’t get stuffed with your alerts. We will not need the emails anyway. What we do need are the rss feeds of your alerts. (In my experience the rss feed of your alert takes about 15-30 minutes to ‘fill’)
    Step 2:

We will merge all of the talkwalkerfeeds in to one kick-ass niche related feed.

    1. Go to Yahoo Pipes (If necessary set up a yahoo account.)
    2. Log in
    3. From the menu click “ Create a pipe”
    4. In the next screen, first you want to name your pipe, click on “ untitled” from the menu (left-above), name your pipe and click save.
    5. Now from the left menu click and drag the “fetch feed” item into the “ workfield” on the right.
    6. Copy and paste your all your Talkwalker RSS url’s in the “fetch feed” . (click the “ +” sign to add a empty field)
    7. Now we don’t want the same content to appear twice in our feed, so whe want to filter our Talkwalker feeds. From the menu left click on: operators>unique and drag it to the workfield. Select: Filter non-unique items based on “item-title”
    8. Connect the “fetch feed” and “unique” item. Then connect the “unique” item to the “pipe output” on the bottom.
    9. From the right-above corner click on save and then on “run pipe” above (center).
    10. Now in the next screen you see how your personal created rss feed is filled with superfresh content. Click on “get as rss” . Copy and paste the rss url in a notepad document, we want to use this url in the next step.

    Step 3

    1. Go to Hootsuite and set up a free account.
    2. Log in
    3. At the left menu, click on your name and connect the social networks you want your feed to be posting to.
    4. Now at the left menu click on settings>rss/atom . A small popup opens. Copy and paste your Yahoo-Pipe RSS from the notepad-document. Also you can see to which networks hootsuite will be posting to. The rest of the settings here (how often to check the feed, how many posts etc.) are personal preference.
    5. Optionally you can also input your blog RSS as a second feed into hootsuite , so that your new blogposts will be instantly shared on Twitter/Facebook. (Keep in mind that pages don’t show up in your blogfeed by default. I you do want this, install the plugin “RSS Include Pages” on your WP-blog.)

That’s it! Now your FB and/or Twitter account will be filled with quality niche-related content without you having to put your time and effort into dozens of your social network accounts. Set and forget…

Hope this can help you in your business. Feel free to leave any comments or questions.

Is duplicate content an issue though?
