fatcow and ipage are the same

only difference is - fatcow has a slightly better allocation of resources than ipage, at almost double the price

ipage has 50,000 database queries an hour, fatcow has 65000 other than that, they are same
    both use vdeck hosting panel
godaddy uses a fcuked up hosting panel which is very low on resources + extremely bad on features with very low speed, for ex, you can't upload file at more than 50-80kb, even server to server
you can't extract files over 100mb, it gives server timeout error.

so ipage : cheap price, free for 1 year ( i get it)
fatcow - same, at double the price
hostgator - expensive , but good - its got cpanel
godaddy - dont' see anything good.

i think the question is what do you need. From what I have seen, I doubt the above answers completely solve the actual issue at hand of finding the right host for you.
Can we know more about you, and your proposed site? Did you have a specific budget in mind?
Are you already hosting sites, looking for somewhere to move to, or are you looking for your first ever host?

I really wouldnt recommend any of them. They are owned by EIG (except for GoDaddy) whose service (IMHO) has been going downhill lately.

Full Disclosure - I work for GoDaddy on the hosting team.

We're rolling out a new cPanel based shared hosting. Replaces the old management system so everything is near-instant (like you expect in cPanel). For now, its only available over the phone, as we roll it out, but you'll see it appear for sale on the site in the near future.

We have tried these services and could not recommend any of them either. We now have a collocation will colocateusa.net now and they are by far better then any of these services.

Hostgator, FatCow and iPage are owned by EIG now and slow .Downtime and slow support are some of major features of EIG .Better to go with any other reliable webhost .

Hostgator,iPage and Fatcow are three different companies by they have one owner called EIG. All the companies provide top class hosting, at the moment I have an active account with Fatcow. I adore Fatcow prices and reliable support team. As for Godaddy, it is more a domain registrar than a hosting provider.

As many posts here look like paid and added by forum posters to promote some of those companies, you can't get clear image which is the "Best" here..

There is no best web host ever, there is only the best one for your specific requirements and budget.
What server location are you interested in? What is the target of your audience?

Godaddy is really considered a domain seller. They offer hosting but you will want a provider who is invested in hosting only to get a better experience. Over the past few years many providers have been bought out and are now owned by one big company so any of the other three you choose are really the same. There are still many good midsized providers in the market who are doing a terrific job and provide a reliable product at an affordable price with value added features. You may want to explore some of those hosting providers over going with the same stale group.

"Best" hosting provider actually can be the one, which really cares about customers, doesn't have millions of accounts on their servers and support staff is much deeper focused on their customers' issues. Keep in mind that, as lot's of hosting customers (by case studies) are complaining about the support and hosting performance in general while being hosted with the big, global providers.
