Issue about classified website ?

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by xantoniox, Oct 16, 2013.

I want to create a classified website.
    I want to know:
    - How search engine treat dissapeared pages ( ads pages )
    - How search engine treat categories's pages that are different every day ( because every day new ads are added in the categories )
    - I have to do something different about SEO/SEM with this kind of website ?

    Thank you all :)

Every page on your website will be indexed unless you tell search engines not to index specific pages. I don't quite understand what you mean with. I should't think that ad's on your pages would inhibit your search rankings unless the pages you are advertising are spammy, blacklisted websites. I would Google something like 'make my URL's search friendly' - I hope this helps!

Maybe I can be more clear:
I want to know if search engines can penalize me for the fact that the content of the categories's pages ( electronics, clothing, jewelry, etc ) is different every day ( because people submit new ads continuously)
    Thanks for help :)

No. Google loves new contents. You will get penalized, If any user place duplicate classified ads on your site for maximum visibility or they might place the same ad on different classified sites. This causes duplicate content issue.

To get success in your classified site make it more attractive, add new features which users love to visit.

From my experienece, you should regularly monitor user content on your site. State in your general terms that you do not allow duplicate content, and if you see someone posting duplicate ads delete them and send a message to that user. On second occasion, ban their IP.
It is very difficult to monitor other sites for posssible duplicate content.
Don't have manual approval of ads. This will kill your site.

Review all those ads before go live. Moreover to avoid copy paste, code a little bit so that they get warning if that content is already in your database. This will reduce the amount of ads to be manually reviewed. While review, copy 2 or 3 sentences from each ads and search on Google, the results will show you whether the same content is used elsewhere.

Depends on the script you are using.

Some can stop similar text in ads from being posted.

What script are you planning on using?
