Use WP + this http://bbpress.org/ plus a few plugins and you will be all set.

    hope that helps,

Sure, the thing is... you don't typically need to bridge logins between the forum and wordpress anyway so the forum you use is not entirely relevant. BBpress is simply integrated into the theme etc. so you wind up saving a lot of time.

It depends on your requirement and functionalities you need. and If you're comfortable with complex backend code and functionality so you can choose any or if you're not that tech savvy then can go for wordpress, which allows you what you're looking for

If it need just a simple blog, you need no wordpress. Just use a forum engine with blogging function. It will be more powerful for your forum. Has a blog and has a forum in a same domain would be hard in maintenance

Not to advertise but to provide a relevant option. I offer a CMS (Subdreamer CMS) which can integrate with Xenforo, vBulletin, phpBB, SMF, IPB, PunBB and MyBB. Forum + CMS / Website bridges can be complicated... do you have any desires for the 'blog' portion of the website to include other features or will it primarily be a blog/article website to go along with your forum?
