Hello Friends, I have some confusion about drop down menu. If I will put drop down menu on my site does it will affect my SEO rankings or not? And please let me know is there any benefits to put drop down menu?
Drop down menu is a method to display the services/products of your website. some where is helps users to choose from drop down. I won't harm keyword ranking or anything related to keyword performance and traffic. Via drop down you can show lots of section on one interface.
It depends how it is written. If you use HTML, it won't hurt. However, if you use javascript, then all the contents on the drop down menu won't be seen by the search engines and at the same time javascript may slow down your site performance and hence may make it harder to be ranked good in Google (or you have to put more effort). So it really depends.
You can use CSS or JQuery and even add keywords by using these methods. Actually it's a great way to create rankings for keywords along with having them in other parts of the content, obviously. I know this from years of using this technique, and the Google updates over the last couple of years having changed anything.
The native drop down menu code may hurt as it may restrict SEs to follow links but if it is created using direct anchor links (no postback) and converted it to drop down kind by using some JavaScript tricks, them there should not be any problem.
I do not prefer drop down menus if it is a blog with few categories. If the site/blog has lot of sub categories then only dropdown menu is important. Moreover I always not allow category names to be indexed by Google. So it will not affect SEO.

It won't harm if you use drop down menu, the advice I would like to give you is always check on the request methods you are going to use with drop down menus.
Google does not mind your menus. Google is looking for contents. If you have contents than menu can be of any type. But yes good navigation in site is recommended by google
No, Drop menu doesn't harm your keywords and site. Through drop down menu it's very flexible service for user. and less space consume on your page.
