You know, at first I thought you were holding your ground really well but now I'm not sure if you're borderline trolling or just an idiot. You don't seem to react well to reason and judging by the posts you've made here, I can just imagine what kind of client you would be to work for. Spoiler Alert: Marshmallows and campfires are not included.
This one struck a chord. I can't speak for this buyer, but I have dealt with a few other buyers who did this as well. Also, many buyers think we are obligated to do some extra work for them because of the fact that they are hiring us. Lol. There was one buyer who got miffed that I had charged him for about fifty words extra for an article. I usually try to end articles naturally without sticking to a strict word length. The deal was that he would pay me per word on my request. So he then tries to avoid paying for it telling me I should overlook all this because other writers write close to 100 words extra without mentioning it! And the funniest (irritating?) part was that I was that other writer who hadn't charged him earlier for the extra words out of goodwill.
Lol.. such a mess over here. Guys, for God's sake, stop spoiling others' thread. You will go to hell and will be fried in unrefined oil
It's not good to put nose in other's post. I know everyone have bad experience even i had many bad experiences but now I am associated with Piyush Chopra and he has given me all the freedom and I have learnt many things from him. And, one more thing pay out is also good. I didn't have problem working with Piyush Chopra and I am damn sure he will not do anything wrong with content writers. He always supported us in every means.
It's funny how low-ballers, once they're called out, always say, "well I've found someone who does great work for peanuts so boohoo!" Pro tip, dude: we don't believe you.
It's also funny how none of piyuschopra's supporters seem to have a firm grasp on English. How could they have produced high-quality content for him? To writers: Bottom line guys, don't come to this forum looking for more than 1.5 cents per word. It's not going to happen. You can make a bit of money if you're in a serious crunch and have to try anything, but you won't make any serious $$. If you're a native English speaker/writer you can get this level work without worrying about marketing at any number of content mills.
I miss the days when I used to make $0.05/word for original content on here. Perhaps I just found the right kind of clients and delivered great quality. I'm actually really glad to pop back in and see the writers starting to have the guts to call out some of these people. Keep up the fight!
Wow, I never knew of a time when actual wages were earned on this forum. I never look for real work here. It's good for a laugh on most days though. Don't get me wrong, if you need a quick $20 it's possible to get it..but that's about it.
I actually started out charging $0.01, but found some good clients that liked my work and hired me regularly. So yes, it's possible to make decent money from here, but that all started changing when people began demanding that people work for less than a penny per word. What made it even worse is that there were tons of people that saw this and accepted this kind of work. I get it -- some countries have exchange rates that make $1 USD go a lot further than it does here. But that really sucks for the better writers who can't justify getting paid crap to do "ongoing" work.
Yeah. I hear you. It's made worse when non-native writers come on here and demand that native writers work for ~1 cent per word. They don't realize or don't care that we can get all the work we want on sites like Textbroker for at least 1.5 cents per word, and as high as 5 cents per word. Still crap pay, but it completely negates the need to work with low-ballers. They just don't get it.
What I have always hated is that they demand that a big order gets filled or else they don't pay. It's a pattern. And it's stupid.
The problem is, they think just because "writers" are applying to their .50c per 100 bulk jobs, that they're on the right track. Most of the clients I talk to think I'm joking when I say I can put out an ad that says "$1.00/HOURLY MUST WRITE 1,000 WORDS AN HOUR" and have people apply. The people who apply to these low paying jobs do not read the thread, they don't read the requirements, most of them aren't American or speak Native English very well. Then you have places like oDesk where some of these people have "English" agents who speak English for them. I'm not even trying to sell my services to the clients on a lot of the threads I comment on, I'm trying to educate them and steer them away from future failure. I've been there, I've tried the outsourcing game and because of it, I lost every client I did that too. I got handed nothing but crap and it was well deserved as well. It was a hard lesson I learned that not everyone should have to. However, some people can't be nor do they want to be educated. They're going to continue to produce cheap made content from desperate writers and wonder why Google isn't showing them any love. Oh well, that's my /rant, I'm in the middle of a project at the moment but felt like typing a response up regardless.
@ Graphicsfx Honestly, I started here in 2004 and many of my clients were found here at DP. I have made a living right here on DP. My rates are still the same and I still get some great clients here. I just skip over the ones that want me to write for peanuts. Not everyone looking for articles or content want to pay such low rates.
