SEO for Government Websites

    Hello Webmasters,

    I have got a new government website project (Travel and tourism) and i just wanted to know is there any specific meta tags that needs to be installed to confirm that this is office website. (authenticate).

    It will be great what are some organic marketing techniques to promote the website.

    Additional Information:

    It is a .com website

    You can use all the meta-tags in that site however i don't think Government site needs too much SEO as Google always prefer .gov domain.

    Governments have a natural advantage when it comes to position on the search engines. Search engines, like Google, favor legitimate government sites. There is also a natural trust factor. Internet searchers are more likely to trust that the information on a legitimate government site is accurate. This gives a government site an advantage in getting links back to the site.

    Well.. Most of the government sites are for their personal use.. with in their organization so why even bother marketing? and.. i think Meta Tag should be precise and not be shown.
