Update your site on regular basis, use ping sites and also remove your site's broken links.

Changing crawling rate does not affect the crawler visits on your website.
It determines the time used by Googlebot to crawl your website.

For increasing crawling frequency, you need to,

    - Update your content regularly
    - Add Sitemap to your website and ping the search engine on every update
    - Get more back links from frequently crawling websites

Out of all these suggestions, the one I found to be most effective is fresh content. That has increased my crawl rate at an astronomical pace.
